Writing in 2021:

It's not too early to commit to making writing a part of your life in 2021!

Looking to make writing a part of your life but need a little help? Our brand new workshop, Creating a Writing Habit is a good place to begin. More information on Creating a Writing Habit can be found here.

Already have a writing habit or want more writing time or want to write with others? Sign up for our Time to Write Workshop and spend time writing with an amazing group of other teacher-writers who will show you the way. More information and registration on the Time to Write Workshop can be found in the Teach Write Academy.

Listening to Our Writing:

Have you ever told your students to read their writing aloud? Do they know what to listen for? Maybe it’s “Time for a Sound Check” to show them how to polish writing with both their eyes and their ears.

Finding Your Writing Voice:

Teaching students how to find their writing voice is difficult, especially if we can’t find our own as teacher-writers. Check out this blog post from The Write Conversation to help you develop your own writing voice so that you can help your students to find theirs.

Tips for Hybrid Teaching:

Are you teaching in a hybrid model and trying to figure out how to manage teaching in two places? Take a moment to read how Stefanie Jochman addresses five problems in her hybrid classroom in this Moving Writers blog post.

Finding Time to Write:

Do you have trouble finding time to write? According to Edie Melson, “becoming a writer is a decision--followed by a life of choices that enable us to live out that commitment. In “Finding Time to Write: Choices all Writers Face”, she lays out nine hard choices we all need to consider to find writing success.

Coming in January to the Teach Write Academy:

That's all for this edition of the Teach Write Writing Round-Up. I will see you again next time with more tips!
