We believe teachers who write make the
best teachers of writers.
Why?
Because it is difficult to teach a craft you do not participate in yourself.
(How well would you learn to swim if your instructor had never been in the water?)
Because teacher-writers know how fear and mindset affect writing and can recognize when they affect
student-writers too.
Because when teachers write, they develop strategies for overcoming their writing struggles and can teach their student-writers how to do the same.
Because being a teacher-writer helps you plan and differentiate your writing lessons and confer with your student-writers more effectively.
Because teacher-writers recognize the very important role writing for an authentic audience and being a part of a supportive writing community makes in the life of a writer.
Through The Teach Write Academy, our membership just for educators, we help teacher-writers grow as writers and as writing teachers through our workshops, mindset coaching, learning opportunities, and our amazing community.
If you are a teacher who is looking to grow as a writer and/or a writing teacher, the Teach Write Academy is the place for YOU!

What is a Teacher-Writer?
What does it mean to be a teacher-writer?
The answer may surprise you.
So many teachers who come to our Time to Write Workshop inside the Teach Write Academy and say that they avoided joining us because they were not published writers.
While publishing is certainly something a writer can do, it is not everything.
Here at Teach Write, a teacher-writer is anyone who works within the realm of education and has a desire to grow a writing habit.
At any given time in a Time to Write Workshop (our writing space inside the Teach Write Academy), you'll find educators who are:
-
Journaling in their notebook
-
Working on a poem
-
Composing a blog post
-
Writing a letter
-
Working on our monthly writing challenge
-
Creating writing samples for work
-
Creating lists
-
Plugging away at their dissertation
While we do have a few members who are published authors, a majority of us are not.
We are just educators who love to get together to nerd out over all things writing.
Does this sound like something you'd like to be a part of?
Join the Teach Write Academy today and you'll see how welcoming and fun it is to grow with us into the writer you'd like to be inside our amazing community of other educators who are doing the same.
